Going to Be Interviewed on Camera? Don’t Do These Things...

Video is a great way to market yourself and your business. Websites that have video produce better conversion rates and promotional videos have a greater impact than plain text advertisements.

If you are a business owner, you need to have video. It’s that simple. However, if you are getting ready to be on camera, there are some things you definitely DO NOT want to do.

At the Fairfax Video Studio, we have helped countless business professionals create powerful videos to promote their products and services.  We know what works on camera and have compiled a list to help you avoid the common mistakes people make:

  • Using filler words, such as “um” and “like.” These words are distracting. It is much more effective to pause between thoughts.
  • Standing with crossed arms. If you have ever studied body language, you know crossed arms don’t send the best message. Plus, if you cross your arms during your video, you will end up looking stiff and boring.
  • Talking too fast. When you talk on camera, you need to overemphasize each word and take breaks between words and sentences. You don’t want to lose your audience by talking at high speed and running your sentences together.
  • Leaning away from the camera. Do the opposite! Leaning towards the camera will give a better effect.
  • Not smiling. When you talk on camera, you need to smile, even if it feels awkward.
