A Steve Jobs Legacy - Adobe Loses the Battle on Flash

Adobe will no longer develop Flash products for mobile devices. Many websites utilize flash to display photo galleries and videos. The decision to cease Flash development comes from a longstanding battle with Apple, the company that makes the iPhone and iPad and refuses to permit Flash media to display on its devices. Apple, and its late CEO Steve Jobs, have always been against Flash and have favored HTML5 instead. This has resulted in Apple products, namely the iPad and iPhone, being unable to display Flash media. Due to the popularity of the iPad and iPhone, many have argued that it was only a manner of time before Adobe caved and adopted a new product that was Apple approved. Adobe has now announced it will develop HTML5 products. After reporting layoffs and seeing shares slide, Adobe has announced it will restructure its business model. This “restructuring” surely includes the death of Flash.
