Nikon has announced its latest camera and it has captured the attention of photographers and moviemakers alike. It boasts 14 mega-pixels and the ability to capture video in 1080p at 24 frames per second. Nikon, you have our attention! Point and shoot cameras have been taking HD video for a few years, but no DSLR (digital single lens reflex) has offered a viable digital movie recording option - until now. Point and shoot cameras thrive on their feather lightweight and pocket size portability, but they leave even semi-serious photographers with many limitations. Among these is the near impossible task of photographing objects in motion in a mirror less camera. The Nikon D3100 will open up a new world of possibilities for amateurs and semi-pros. Not only does it shoot razor sharp pictures at up to 1/4000 of a second, but it adds the amazing ability to shoot 1080p video with constant autofocus, a first for DSLRs. It also weighs in at just over 1lb, which will make carrying it around all day a breeze. This is the first camera that will put real video production capability in the hands of the photography masses. While real pros will always choose tools that are dedicated solely to their task, the reasonably priced D3100 will be a gateway for beginners to learn the skills it takes to produce quality videos. $700 is a bargain for what Nikon is offering. Perhaps we should hold our horses until customers actually get them in their hands - they aren’t due to hit the market until mid-September. However, based on Nikon’s stellar reputation, we can expect this innovative camera to be another great product. Be sure to order your FREE copy of Nine Nifty Tips for Effective Video Clips !
