Read All TestimonialsOnline video empire, YouTube, owned by Google, has extended its maximum video length from 10 minutes to 15 minutes for all users. Increasing the max length for video is a bold move even for a site that is generating 24 hours of new video every 60 seconds. In their official statement, YouTube says:
“We want YouTube to be the best place to upload video. Without question, the number one requested feature by our creators is to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. We’ve heard you, and today we’re pleased to announce that we’ve increased the upload limit to 15 minutes.”
YouTube has cited their Content ID system for allowing them to take this step forward. This multifaceted system helps the company prevent copyrighted content from being illegally distributed. Says YouTube, “Now, all of the major U.S. movie studios, music labels and over 1,000 other global partners use Content ID to manage their content on YouTube. Because of the success of these ongoing technological efforts, we are able to increase the upload limit today.”
In the past, only official partners have been allowed to upload video longer than 10 minutes.
YouTube accounts are not only free, but allow users to upload and protect their content by restricting access or allowing global access. The company has grown by leaps and bounds due to their ease of use and forward-thinking technology. This is another step in the right direction for the reigning Web video giant.
